I would like to thank our boosters for adding a drain to our field. Along with the press box project, the boosters have completed a drain and are working on painting our facilities. Thanks for all you do to help our guys. Finally, we only have three weeks until try-outs and the official beginning of our season. We will continue our lifting, conditioning, and throwing programs until then. We are generally around after school until about 5:30. However, we alter our plans due to weather. Please understand our situation. Thank you, John Rice Head baseball coach No early morning workout on Monday, Jan11Monday morning's pitching workouts are cancelled due to inclement weather. We will work out after school, but we will not meet in the morning.
Spring semester is here; it is time to crank it up.Beginning Monday, January 11, the KHS baseball team will begin preparations for the upcoming 2010 baseball season. We will be going five days per week, and we will do all that the weather will allow. We are under the "open facilities" section of the TSSAA calendar, so we can use our cages and playing surface to prepare. All student-athletes must meet with me on Wednesday, January 5, in my room to get valuable information about upcoming schedules. The meeting will be held at 2:30 during the BLAST time. However, if the BLAST schedule is changed, the meeting will take place in my room after school. The meeting is mandatory.
Free college showcase on Saturday, November 28Any junior or senior who would like to attend a free showcase on Saturday needs to come to Clinton High School at 1:00. I am unsure which colleges will attend; however, I do know that i received multiple e-mail responses from college coaches who asked if our kids would be at Clinton on Saturday. This showcase is for any junior or senior. I hope all of you can find time to attend.
I will not be opening up the weight room tomorrow; instead, we will meet as scheduled on Monday. Remember to bring you cookie sheets. Our goal by Monday is 30 boxes per player. On a final note-and one directed at our players-please remember that this is a holiday about thanks and blessings. I too love the awesome food, but I hope that we can all remember to be thankful for our blessings. I am thankful to be associated with such wonderful people; I am thankful for your hard work and dedication; and finally, I am thankful to have another year leading the Beavers into this upcoming season. Happy Thanksgiving, John Rice Thanksgiving breakOur first cookie dough checkpoint is scheduled for tomorrow, Nov 24. The sale will end on Dec. 1, and all players should sell 30 boxes by that date.
I would like to thank all of the parents, players, and community members that worked so hard to make our UT concession stand successful again this year. I know that it is a big task, but it is also a giant help to our program. Thank you all. Time to sling the cookies!Parents,
It is once again time for us to begin our cookie dough fundraiser. The players and I will kick off the fundraiser today, November 18, and wrap it up on December 1. We will have two checkpoints: one on November 24th and one on Nov. 30. Please ask your son to see the goal sheet today so that we can once again complete this fundraiser successfully. Thanks, John Rice Fall league finishedThe fall league is over. Though three dates had been rained out, the coaches of the participating high schools have combined to end the league's games.
Our schedule will be as follows: Off this week Next week we will go Monday, the 19th of October, through Friday and finish off the week with the Race for the Cure on the 24th. UT CONCESSION STANDOur UT football concession stand is a tremendous hit. Our booster club is outfitting a concession stand at each of Tennessee's eight home games this season. Please contact Mike Cooper, Richard Hill, or head coach John Rice for more information.
Current EventsThe KHS baseball team will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on October 24. We will run as a group and complete the 5K run together. Registration should be completed on-line and players should register under the team Karns High School baseball.
Also, the Karns baseball club will host its fifth annual golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 8:00 A.M. at Centennial golf course. Players should turn in their sponsorship forms by Monday, Sept. 14. Finally, the Lindsey Kiser will be entering the Homecoming court on behalf of the baseball team. She is currently seeking support in her fundraising efforts. The beginning of a new yearThe fall season for the KHS baseball players will begin on Thursday, August 20, at the baseball field after school. Prospective players and coaches will work on the field for an hour in order to ready it for fall workouts.
Next, the players will begin after school workouts on Monday, August 24, at 3:50. We will work out Mondays-Thursdays until the beginning of the Diamond Baseball fall league, which begins on Tuesday, September 1. Once the league begins we will only work out on Mondays and Tuesdays. Finally, the Diamond Baseball fall league will be a totally new undertaking for us this season. In conjunction with Catholic, Farragut, Bearden, Hardin Valley, and CAK, KHS players will participate in a league that will play two nights a week for six weeks. Teams will be divided to comply with TSSAA rules, and Diamond Baseball will operate a website with rosters, results, etc., throughout the season. Price is $100 for each player, and this covers insurance, twelve games, and guarantees playing time. Pitchers will be limited to a pitch count, and leagues will be divided into varsity and junior varsity. This seems to be an incredible opportunity for all involved. Line-upsEach day's line-up (when available) will be posted in the line-up folder as soon as possible.
